Dinning Out

What is today all about - I don't ever seem to be bored and I certainly don't need to be occupied.  I can sit in a nice comfortable chair and be zonked out in less than 10 minutes.  Or, I can go outside and shovel snow for an hour and have just as much fun.  Well, I know this is not very substantive - I've been playing Mafia Wars -- It does get a bit addicting, but I think I've learned how to limit the time I spend doing that.

I also downloaded something Vicki plays and finally got it to work.  It is a whole lot of fun and yet gets boring at times -- I think she said it does.  The key though, for me, is that I got the game working.  If you like slots you would like the game and the best part is you get  just about the same kick without spending any actual money -- some wouldn't.

I'm headed to Lana's place to enjoy some squirrel - not watching, eating.  Hmmm - I don't suppose the animal rights folks would appreciate a picture of one of those cute buggers in this blog and then me saying I ate one or two of 'em. Might just do it though - would that be considered sarcasm or irony - irony I think.

Well I'm going to go enjoy some more of my precious moments -- and I don't mean those dolls.

Post Script:

The squirrel and noodle casserole was excellent.  My sister assured me these were not those domesticated town squirrels, but the wild vicious squirrels that hang out in the deep dark forest. And no, they do not taste like chicken and their bones are a whole lot smaller.  I even got to bring some leftovers back to HoJac Acres.  Yum.  Oh, and the Northern Pink fried strips were outstanding.

This is a picture of a fairly domesticated squirrel - we don't eat these guys = we are entertained by their antics.

July 4th 2009 - Raining in Aurora

This will be the puppies' first 4th. Lots of noise, but the neighborhood has been relatively quiet this year. I'm getting ready for the Martinez family reunion.

I'm also working on my golf game. My first goal was to consistently break 100 (below 100 that is). I think I've reached that goal - so, I've set a new one and that is to start averaging in the low 90's by the end of August 2009. I think it is a lofty goal - but attainable. I actually broke 100 several times at Myrtle Beach this year - a first for me - and someone else took the Alligator home this year - yahoo!

I've been working really hard on the Kitchen -- new cabinets are in - a dishwasher has been installed and I'm on the trim work - and that is work.

The squirrels are driving the dogs nuts -- that is what they do. It is fun to watch and somewhat frantic at times. I think the dogs wish they could climb trees. They'll start "intermediate" training next week. Gotta work on a few commands with Buddha before class.

Life is good - enjoy it. Don't put off doing something for yourself until tomorrow -- do it now!

Arggggg

Okay, a 62 and 53. Up and down and up and down. I will be competition sometime this year. 2 days to departure time. Dogs barking, squirrels chattering - eating the plastic ( heavy duty i might add) bird seed container. Squirrels are smart - period.

Looking for left over Canadian coins - not having much luck. so much to do - I think since I've retired, I truly am busier than I ever was before - but it is fun busy - fun and fullfilling (SP). Uwe called - 17 years since last contact. He and his family are coming to the states for a month in August. We are so looking forward to seeing him and meeting his family.

The Countdown - 6 working days and Where's my 401

Hmmm. Retirment still is the right thing for me to do. My 401 has suffered like everyone else's - won't be the first time and probably not the last. Both vehicles had problems this week - well, there are a couple of more pay checks to get through that. All is not lost and, frankly, to me the future looks grand.

We'll be leaving for a conference in Vegas a few days after my official retirement - happens on the 31st of this month by the way. I think we'll have to cut back on a few things, but we will definitely have the time together to do the fun things we really like to do - some of which we have not even discovered yet. Life is an adventure that must be enjoyed.

I'm sitting at the kitchen table this morning - the window to the East is always such a grand view. Even though we live in a populated area, the trees keep our home and view private and awesome.

I raked leaves yesterday evening - piled high - I'll need to take some pictures. I've enjoyed watching the squirrels. I've put some treats in some tough spots to get to. These guys usually figure it out in about an hour - sometimes less. They take risks, squirrels do. By the way - one should watch their tales. They seem to "move with purpose" or "message". I need to learn more about that.

We piled the leaves high around the trunk of the tree in the backyard. It should be interesting to watch them burrow through the leaves this morning.

Be joyful, in every way and in every moment!

Walking

Its Saturday morning. I went for a long walk this morning. The beautiful Carolyn walks every day - she slept in today. What an absolutely awesome day! about 48 degrees, sunny, fluffy clouds, meadowlarks, herons, red wing blackirds, and the pond at the park, one of them nearly full. Spring melt hasn't really hit us yet. It could be a doozy (Not sure that is a word). I certainly hope it is a slow melt - the mountain lakes are really low.

I sent a note to a few folks yesterday - inviting them to read my ramblings - some did! It was nice to hear from them. I saw a lot of squirrels this morning. I love squirrels, I'm not quite sure why -- maybe it is the touching story my Mum told me about. I'll share wome day. But for today:

Cool breeze,
A pair of mallards,
Nature sings...

We saw 5 coyotes in the park the other day. It is really an open space nature trail. Carolyn was watching the Aurora channel and sure enough - Coyote's, deer, fox, have all been spotted. A pack though, is kinda worrysom (sp) to me, especially when Carolyn walks there alone. There has never been any report of anyone being attacked though. I think my brother would like to see that. So, that brings up another subject...

I'm so proud of my family, brothers, sisters, mom and dad -- all and my sons and daughters. They really do try and live life to the fullest and give 100%. I know - I hear of folks that give 110 or 150 percent. How can they 100 per cent is what there is! Now, that probably means that those who are giving less, are really only posting 50-99 percent. It also reminds me of a phrase I once heard about where on is on the scale of whatever -- Let's say there are 5 places to be and if you are in position number 3, well, you are "top of the bottom, bottom of the top, cream of the crap!" Doesn't have a real nice ring to it. Performance ratings suck! And yes, that is yet another topic - I think I'll address it in the future.

In the meantime, if you are not enjoying what you are doing, do something else!
